Google Searching




Long before Surfing magazines' Google Earth Reader Challenge I, like countless others were scouring the globe looking for fantasy set-ups in remote places far from the frothing masses. It started off locally, examining the coast around my home break looking for those secret spots that you never commit to checking on a good swell, then it moved further a field. It has become my number one way of procrastinating. I have no doubt that many "secret" or at least quiet spots have been exposed to people like me through satellite imagery. People can grumble that "in my day you had to put the miles in get out there and look", even I rather hypocritically long for a day before all the maps were drawn. But remembering that Google Earth provides only a mere snap shot of tide, wind and swell -there is still a lot of searching to be done.
